HARRY S. TRUMAN MISSOURI United States Senate WASHINGTON, D.C. January 28, 1935 Mr. Edgar G. Hinde 1500 West Lexington Independence, Missouri Dear "Mr. Farley": I think your arrangements to take over the post office the First of February is perfectly all right, and the proper thing to do. I have been hearing a great many rumors about the situation in Jackson County, and I want you to sit down and write me some facts. Run all the rumors down; talk to Vivian and Purcell and all the rest of them, and write me just exactly what is going on in the Independence court house. My family are all well, although we are about to freeze to death in Washington. We have one foot of snow and it was four below this morning. I had to keep my daughter out of school today because she had a bad cold, but it is nothing serious. ART RECORDS NATIONAL HIVES ADMIN Harry Harry Sincerely S.
