Mr. Edgar G. Hinde
Postmaster
Independence, Missouri
Dear Edgar:
I ran across a lot of correspond-
ence which took place between you and the
Procurement Department of the Treasury and
my Secretary when I was gone.
Now, things have come to a pretty
pass when a former Park Superintendent can't
get a little grass sown on the front lawn
of the Post Office. It looks to me very
much as if Bill Thompson is going to get a
job.
I am sorry I didn't get to see
you when I was home. I was only there about
fifteen minutes.
Why don't you fix it up so that
the Post Office Department will have to send
you to Washington to get the grass seed, and
then we will really put in the time.
Sincerely yours,
Harry S. Truman
