Honorable Edgar G. Hinde
Postmaster
Independence, Missouri
Dear Edgar:
Appreciate most highly your good letter
of April Twelfth, and I am certainly happy to have
your views on things as they are taking place at
home. They certainly are making it most difficult
for those of us who really want to do what's right.
I am of the opinion, however, that things
will work out to the advantage of all of us, for
I
just can't believe that there is any foundation in
fact for what is going on in the Federal Court. I
give Pendergast credit for too much sense to do
anything of the kind.
As you know, I spent more money in Jackson
County than the Governor has spent in the State of
Missouri, and Pendergast never even made a hint to
me about doing anything wrong. In fact, he always
advised me, when I talked to him, to do it the right
way, and as you know, that is the way it was done.
I wish I could see you and talk with you
about the situation.
Sincerely yours,
in
with
