THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON October 10, 1946 Dear Edgar: I am enclosing you a clipping from the Independence paper which I just ran across. It looks to me like my candidate for Postmaster in Independence is in some trouble and it wouldn't surprise me at all if one Edgar Hinde didn't have a hand in it, by letting him fall asleep on the railroad track with the idea of getting his head cut off. Sincerely yours Honorable Edgar G. Hinde Postmaster Independence, Missouri Yor'd letter have a good defense!
