THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
April 14, 1951
Dear Hinie:
I appreciated very much your letter of the eleventh,
enclosing me a copy of one you had sent to Mr. Huie.
I don't know how in the world people can think up
such articles - he certainly could not have gotten
his so-called facts from anybody at home. He
doesn't quote anybody but Roger Sermon and Salsbury,
who never told the truth in his life if a lie would do
as well.
Rufus Burrus sent me a copy of the letter he wrote
Mr. Huie. It certainly makes me feel like I am
somebody when friends like you and Rufus take up
the cudgels for me.
I know how vitally interested you are in the Korean
situation because you have a boy there. I had to
take the action I did and most people think it was
long overdue.
Sincerely yours,
Honorable Edgar G. Hinde
Postmaster
Independence, Missouri
