Kansas City, Mo. Friday March 26, 1920.
According to instructions received from the agency
I proceeded to the Truman & Jacobson store at 104 West 12th St.
in company with Operative B.H.P.
I entered the store first and noticed a clerk at
the rear of the store cleaning his finger nails. He wore
glasses and was dressed in a brown suit. He approached me and
asked what I wish to buy and I told him I would like to look
at a pair of silk hose size ten and a half in a black silk.
He told me he did not have the size I wanted in a dollar hose
but had a good one for a $1.25. I looked at them and said I
would take two pair. At this time the phone rang and the party
on the other end of the wire asked for some one and the clerk
said that he was out. He said something about a lady coming to
the store. He then returned to finishing waiting on me. I then
asked for some soft collars. He pointed to them and said
there they are pick out the style you want. He then went to
wait on Operative B.H.P. who had just entered. I called him saying
give me one of this style which he did leaving the other operative
looking at some shirts. The price of the collar was .50 cents
I asked to look at some cuff links and bought a pair for
.75 cents. I next wanted some handkercheifs and bought two
at 15 cents each. which made the total of my purchases $4.05
and I laid four one dollar bills down on the case and found
four pennies and was hunting another but he said to let that go
SO I paid him just $4.04 and then left the store, returning to
the agency, leaving Operative B. H. P. in the store to make another
purchase.
