Fund. 1 know from serving as Dean of the Liberal Arts College at
Iowa that the generous spirit of both students and faculty
guarantees the success of this 1949 compaign.
Why should you and I aive to these agencies? Let'i take
the educational organisations. The other enterprises, CARE and
Cancer, deservé your full support, lust sinco I am an educator

College Fund. Thy should - be concerned about students in
foreign countries? Why shouldn't they take care of themselves?
The answer to the first is that we Americans are known to be a

generous and humanitarian people. We have alsays helped those in
need or- distress. Foreign students need our help now. But fros
parely selfish motive we ought to give to the World Student
Service Fund. It is to our adventage to reise the edmoational level
and improve the intellectual lendership in all the nations of
the world. There cannot be peace and prospority unless the leaders
of the world prise these things and work for them. -Our holp to the
present needy other landa nos and in the yeare to
come essate auch good vill and a respect for our democratic way
