TRUNAR last Roberous, HEADQUARTERS BATTERY D-129 FIELD ARTILLERY Cs. any 35TH DIVISION From: - St. Patrick To- Battery D, 129th Field Artillery. Subject: - Movement of troops. 1.-This battery will move into position in the night of March 17 and is assigned to a sector designated on the map as Seventh street and Grand Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri. 2.-The personnel will be billeted for the night at the Chateau de la Elk, located at the cross roads which mark the boundries of the sector. 3.-Horses will not accompany the battery but "horses' necks" may be carried by each soldier if desired. .-Though the battery will be placed in close proximity to the enemy, the underground character of the battery position affords a large degree of seclusion and safety. Comment: 1.-In - words more adaptable to the civilian ear, the Fourth Annual St. Patrick's Day banquet will be staged by former members of Battery D, the night of March 17 in the basement of the Elks' club house, Seventh street and Grand Avenue, Kansas City Missouri. 2.-You can bring your "iron rations" in the old hip pocket. Use your own judgement and pay your own bond. 3.-The enemy, referred to in above orders, is com- posed of several divisions of law authorities. Their strongest concentration is at the guard house, several hundred meters north of the battery position. 4.-We have been fortunate in placing some of our allies in the enemy territory. 5.-If you live in Kansas City and do not "sit in" with "Dizzy D" at this celebration, you will be court-martialed. If you live within a days' traveling distance and fail to grace the festive board, you will be put on kitchen police for the duration of peace. 6.-But if you live at a a prohibitive distance, let us at least have a letter of greeting from you to be read at the banquet. (You might enclose the $2.00 reservation fee to help us pacify the mess sergeant.) Addendo:-Send your reservation in as early as possible to Capt, Harry Truman, 104 West 12th Street. $2.00 covers everything. You will get your ticket at the banquet room entrance on the night of the banquet. If you cannot make a reservation in advance, don't hesitate to "report for duty". You will be taken care of. Sincerely your old Buddie St. Patrick
