I.
GENERAL IMPRESSIONS OF THE DAY
East of the Mcuse, this Division attacked on a 11 kilometer front,
with the 322nd Infantry or the lefi, the 32-1th Infantry on the right and in
liaison with the 10th Fronch Division, just south of the Lix-Etain road.
Little resistance was encountered from the enemy1s line cf observation

A telephone message from the Corps reports that prisoners stated
that the enemy intended to retire at midni ght to a line further east. The next
defensive lines is the so-called second position line, Buzy, Darmont and Warcq,
On the east bank of the Orne river to the crossing of the Orne and the Bix-
Etain road, west of Etain,
No offensive contemplated,
IV.
ENEMY INFANTRY ACTIVITY.
Enemy resistance to our advance so far has consisted in a defensive
rather than an offensive resistance. No counter-attacks are reported.

ENAMY ARTILLERY ACTIVITY.

account of the poor visibility, confusion of shells bursting, the number of rounds
