WEST POINT. NEW YORK
October 7, , 1919.
Mr. Harry S. Truman,
Kansas City,
NATIGAAL SERVICE" RECOROS to
Missouri.
My dear Truman:-
Your le tter of May 26th has just reached me .
It was mailed to me in Washington and reached there just a
few days after I had left for France. It followed me to
France and evidently laid around in the various post-
offices over there for two or three months wh en finally
it was forwarded to me here and has reached me at the above
address.
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate
your Letter and your thoughtfulness about the horse. Ever
since I parted with him, however, I have been continually
on the move and 80, and I am by no means certain that I
am going to stop such a migratory life, and for that
reason a horse is very much too great a burden to me. I
hope to remain here for four years but I have understood
that the Manchu Law would probably take effect before
very long and if it does I shall have to move on.
I
am de lighted that the horse is in fine shape and I
Sincerely hope he is of service to you.
I know you must have had a wonderful
experience on the other side and I feel as though I would
give a leg or an arm if only I had been with you. I
was
all over the territory where you campaigned and know
some of your experiences. I saw Colonel Klemm when he
returned and heard his most interesting recital of your
experiences.
I hope if you ever come east that you will
take the opportunity to look me up Please give my
regards and best wishes to any other memembers of the
regiment with whom you may come in contact.
With best wishes for your success, I am,
W
Very sincerely yours,
P.M. Nauful
