I. GENERAL IMPRESSIONS OF THE DAY :
After a heavy bombardment of the enemy's lines, our troops
attacked at5-30 acme, September 26, on the front from the MEUSE
to VIENNE le CHATEAU, about, 30 km.
The attack was completely successful, meeting with little
enemy infantry and artillery resistance and few losses. The ob-
jectives for the day were reached at all points.
In connection with this attack, our troops between the
MOSELLE and the MEUZE conducted a number of minor local operations
accompanied by considerable artillery activity. These operations
were likewise successful and resulted in the taking of prisoners.
II. ENEMY FRONT LINE:
East of the MEUSE, MARCHEVILLE has been taken and our troops
are at the south edge of RIAVILLE. From DANNEVAUX on the west
bank of the MEUSE, the line runs through the north part of the
BOIS LA COTE LE MONT to point 3135/2836, thence southwest to
NANTILLOIS. ECLISFONTAINE, CHARPENTRY, MONTBIAINVILLE; thence west
to point 2948/2752. From here our line is continued westward by
the French to BINARVILLE and north of CERNAY, ROUVROY and RIPONT.
III. ENEMY ORDER OF BATTLE:
(a) Identifications:
About 7500 prisoners have been reported in today's operations,
from the following units:
9th Landwehr Division (known to be in line)-Prisoners of the
118th Landwehr Regiment.
2nd Landwehr Division (known to be in line) - Prisoners of
the 120th Landwehr Regiment and of the 125th Landwehr
Regiment, two kilometers east of LE FOUR de PARIS. Also
prisoners of the 4th Squadron, 20th Uhlan Regiment, Division-
al cavalry of the 2nd Landwehr Division.
Landsturm Battalion, Goettingen x/15 (not known to be in
line)- - Prisoners of this battalion state their battalion was
in
line between the 125th Landwehr Regiment, 2nd Landwehr
Division, and the 2nd Guard Regiment, lst Guard Division.
