    "ocrText": "information\n\"Orthopedists report that complaints of ill-fitting shoes\nshow that the trouble is caused not so much by narrow lasts as by\nthe fact that the shoes issued are in many cases not sufficiently\nlong.\nIt is believed that if greater care is exercised in fitting\nshoes of sufficient length that requisitions for lasts E and EE ean\nbe materially reduced. This is highly important for the reason\nthat requisitions submitted in December and January for shoes of\nexceptionally wide lasts are greatly in excess of the tariff, and\nthe available supply of shoes in E and EE lasts is rapidly becoming\nexhausted.\n2. Please issue instructions to all organizations of your\ncommand that greater care should be taken in fitting same with shoes\nSO that whenever possible other lasts will be uséd.\n3. In this connection the attention of all concerned is\ndirected to Special Regula tions No. 28, 1917.\nHq IX Corps, 2-6-19)\nVI.
