EXTRACT BAGGAGE REGULAT IONS

The following regulation havi ng been approved by the C.G
,
S.O.S. are published for the information and compliance of all
concerned:
Baggage Service organized by the Chief Quartermaster
as a branch of the Salvege Service under General Order No, 62
Ho. S.O.S. dated December 5th, 1918, will be responsible e for the
supervision of the movement of all baggage from the time such
baggage comes into the possession of the Baggage Service, A.E.F.,
until it is turned over to its owner, in France or U.S. or to
the D.C.T. (A.I.S. ) on the docks at Port of Embarkation.
TAGS AND LABELS
2. Each piece of troop property, officers' and enlisted men's
baggage must be prominently and distinctly marked with full name,
rank and organization of owner. only oil paints will be used for
this purpose. Trunks will be marked on both ends and on the top.
Bedding rolls will be marked on the side. All markings will state
whether baggage is intended for "Hold" or "Stateroome"
(a) When travelling, the owner will have firmly attached to
the ends of each piece of basgage, tags showing his full name
rank and organization, point of departure and destination, and date
of departure.
3. The bagaage of each organization will be numbered serially,
bezinning Wi th number one, and in addition will bear the company
designation for all baggage of each company or like unit.
BAGGAGE LISTS
4. Baggage lists as follows will be made by all organizations
before entraining for or marching to camps at base ports.
(a) One list, 6 copies, covering all barracks bags and other
personal property not carried by enlisted men and all troop property
not to be taken to camp Separate list will be prepared for each
company or like unit.
( (b) 0 e list, 6 copies, covering all personal property of
officers attached to each company or like unit intended for "Hold"
(c) one list, 6 copies, covering all personal property of
officers attached to esch company or like unit intended for
"Stateroom".

(d) Field desks, typevriters, record boxes, etc., to be u.sed
in camps and on board shin will noi be entered on baggage lists.
Such propertywill move with and be eared for by details from
organizations.
