Headquarters 35th Division American Expeditionary Forces 18th February, 1919. 953 MEMORANDUM: To Commanding Officers, Brigades, Regiments and Separate Units. 1. The battalion and company competition drills provided for in G-3 Memorandum of 30th January will be held at the COM-- MERCY rifle range at 10 A.M., Thursday, 20th February. Troops will be in position as indicated in G-3 Momorandum of 4th Feb- ruary, at 9:45 A.M., and each company will consist of four pla- toons of five squads each. 2. A field day will be held at the same place and date, ac- cording to Athletic Memorandum, these Hcadquarters, 12th February, wit h the fo llowing exceptions: a) The athletic events will start immediately on comple- tion of the competitive drills. b) The 880 yard run, the mile run and the four mile run are cancelled, and a 220 yard dash is added. c) The medley relay race will have two men run 220 yards each, and two men run 440 yards each. d) Each regiment will enter a team of twenty (20) men for a tug-of-war for the Rivisional championsbip Each team will be captained by an officer who will not pull but will direct the team. e) Each infantry regiment and separate orginization of infantry will make four entries in the 100 yard, 220 yard and 440 yard dashes. 3. Lunches will be carried, but no pap er or debris will be thrown on the ground. 4. Each infantry regiment will have its band on the fie ld ready to play at 9:30 A.M. Band leaders will report at that time to Lieutenant Judge at western end of stable. 5. All work for infantry troops, except the necessary guard and fatigue, will be sus pended for t he day. 6.
