6. The Division Commander desires particular attention
paid from the beginning of the training season to physical
training, military courtesy, and smartness and correctness
of saluting which is accepted in all armies as an almost in-
fallible indication of the discipline of the command. Particular
attention will be paid to instructon of no-commissoned officers
in physical drill, squad, close and extended order, the manual
of arms, bayonet exercise, patrol formations and action, etc.,
to
have diversified training for the day's work. Non-com-
missioned officers must be impressed with the necessity for
force and effciency.
7. For instruction in minor trench work, bayonet fight-
ing and gerande throwing, each regiment will construct on
ground to be assigned later, opposite the regimental area, a
bayonet fighting range, the details of which will be covered
in an instruction circular.
THE DIVISIONAL SCHOOL SYSTEM.
(Prescribed by War Department Orders.
1. The school system will be divided into division, brig-
ade, regimental and company schools, to be organized by
October 1st. The date on which the eschool system will go
into effect will be announced from these headquarters.
2. Schools marked (a) are special schools and men de-
tailed will be excused from other drills, their time to be de-
voted to this special instruction, except as otherwise speci-
fied herein.
