Cress Admiral Robbins Mr. Hickerson opened the meeting by outlining the parliamentary situation in New York, the activities of the Asian group in attempting to work out 8 cease-fire resolution, and setting forth the general attitude of this Government based on the Truman-Attlee talks that we would support in principle the cease-fire resolution introduced in the Assembly. He pointed out that the Asian group's idea of introducing a resolution had achieved considerable momentum and there seemed to him little question but that they would come out with a resolution to be introduced in the Committee probably tomorrow. He said that Gross was going to see Romulo before the Asian group met again at 3 o'clock and therefore we wanted to get from the military their reactions to the draft cease-fire which we had obtained from a member of the Asian group earlier this morning. During the course of the meeting a later draft of the cease-fire resolution was brought in which had been telephoned down from New York. After some discussion of the minor aspects of the proposed resolution Admiral Davis said that he thought it would be wise for the military to make overall comment; namely, from the military standpoirt we lid not want 8 cease-fire at this time.
