He pointed out that Vice Min Fon Affairs (now acting FONMIN)

had told him that Min wld deliver to Emb, June 26, formal reply
of Emb note June 21. He has since learned, he averred, that
reply not yet drafted and will not be delivered for another 2
or 3 days.
Ryee stated that he personally wished to settle present impasse
as promptly as possible and to satisfaction of parties involved.
He declared that in order to avoid exaggeration of controversy,
he had made no (rpt no) statements to press re matter. When
questioned re Reuters report datelined Pusan June 22 (Korean
Time), quoting him to effect that Emb's note "unsatisfactory"
Ryee flatly denied any such comment, stating that such irrespon-
cible reporting largely responsible for exacerbating relations
between ROK and US.
Emb is canvassing with psychological war reps in Pusan and Tokyo
possibilities alternate channels thru which VOA Korean language
newscasts may be relayed medium wave to Korean people. Avail-
able possibilities include:
1. 25 kilowatt mobile transmitters, one of which is now utilized
power KBS Seoul outlet. These units operated by Fourth Mobile
P
Radio Broadcasting Company, first radio broadcasting and leaflet
group, CINCFE. According info recd from Tokyo, use of these trans-
mitters wld require formal request from Emb to CINCFE.
