REHABILITATION OF KOREA Financial implications of the draft resolution proposed by the First Committee (A/2278) Twenty-third report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions to the seventh session of the General Assembly 1. The Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions has considered a report by the Secretary-General (A/C.5/525) submitting a statement of the financial implications of a resolution proposed by the First Committee (A/2278) on the reports of the United Nations Commission for the Unification and Rehabilitation of Korea. 2. The Secretary-General indicates in his report that the draft resolution, if approved, may have financial implications in connexion with: (a) The Repatriation Commission contemplated in paragraph 1 of the proposals contained in the draft resolution and in connexion with the supporting staff; (b) The umpire to be appointed by the Repatriation Commission; (c) The bodies and agencies to work under the Repatriation Commission; (a) The disposition of prisoners of war whose future would not have been provided for at the end of 120 days after the armistice agreement has been signed. 3. As regards items (a) and (b) above, the Secretary-General estimates the financial implications at a total of $28,000. This figure is exclusive of the cost of supporting staff for the Repatriation Commission, which the Secretary- General will endeavour to provide through the re-assignment of personnel of UNCURK. 52-11853
