FROM THE PRESIDENT TO GENERALISSIMO CHIANG KAI-SHEK.
Please accept this expression of appreciation of your message of
3 May expressing for the Chinese Nation your admiration for the achieve-
ments of the Allied Armies in Europe and conveying congratulations upon
the success of America's war effort.
We join with you in a confidence that upon the collapse of the
Nazis our augmented Allied Forces in the Pacific Theatre will hasten
the total defeat of the Japanese aggressors and bring an early peace
to China.
