THE PRESIDENT
Started discussion with reference to conversation with
Ambassador Claude Bowers about disintegration of Whig and Federal-
ist parties. Drew comparison with present situati on in Republican
Party.
WEBB
Acheson is leaving for U. S. today. He has been at Big 3
meeting in Europe. French leadership is coming forward in a
most gratifying manner - which peps up our position in Western
Europe.
BARKLEY
Will vote on
FEPC today - but we do not have the 64
votes necessary to get cloture. We are faring badly on reorgan-
ization plans.
