Briefed Cabinet on Korea. Described new invasion behind North
Korean lines.
THE PRESIDENT
Warned Cabinet officers that he is opposed to wire tapping and
asked Cabinet to watch this activity carefully.
ATTY GEN
It is an evil practice but is necessary for check on subversive
activities.
SAWYER
If the FBI knows of such activities they should inform Cabinet
officers.
WEBB
There seems to be a dropping off in news coverage in China &
Russia of the Korean War. This may be tip off on a new line of ap-
proach by Russia regarding Korea. We should not look forward to any
announcements in the next few days from the meeting of the 3 foreign
ministers at the U. N. meeting. They will come out at a later date.
ATTY GEN
Will be ready to move quickly on recommendation to President on
pending security legislation. Regretted Johnson's departure from Cabinet.
THE PRESIDENT
Told Secty of Agriculture he wrote letter to Senator Thomas about
desirability of providing transportation funds for movement of perish-
able foods to relief agencies.
