Following is text of telegram from Resident Minister's Office, Central Mediterranean, to Foreign Office referred to in my No. 70. Begins: On May 30 General Doyen, commanding the French Army of the Alps, sent a letter to General Crittenberger, commanding the United States IV Corps, referring to an attempt to estab- lish Allied Military Government in the Province of Cuneo. The letter ends with the following paragraph: "France cannot consent that a modification against her will be made in the existing state of affairs in the Alpes Maritines. This would be contrary to her honour and her se- curity. I have been ordered by the Provisional Government of the French Republic to occupy and administer this territory.
