SUMMARY OF TELEGRAMS
ITALY
Ambassador Dunn reports that the recent
Communist meeting in Poland has shocked
many Socialist-minded persons in Italy into realizing the
extreme lengths to which Communists will go to promote
Kremlin policies.
SOVIET UNION
The Soviet Foreign Office has curtly
refused to accept the accusation against
the USSR contained in the note of protest from Brazil
about the libelous article on President Dutra which was
printed in Soviet newspapers. The Brazilian Ambassador
plans to leave Moscow shortly and has told our Embassy
that he thinks it probable his government will break re-
lations with the USSR.
