HAROLD L. ICKES
3624 PROSPECT AVENUE, N. W.
WASHINGTON 7, D.C
DUPONT 2281
September 29, 1949.
My dear Mr. Clancy:
Thank you for your letter of September 23 and the
documentary attachments that came with it. I want to
write a column on this just as soon as I can and your
pamphlet will be helpful. Unfortunately, I cannot say
when I will be able to find time to do this because
there are so many interesting topics pressing for dis-
cussion. In any event, nothing further can be done in
the way of additional state ratification of this pro-
posed amendment before 1950 and I am not sure but that
it might be better to hold my fire until the subject
is likely to become a live one again. What do you
think?
Sincerely yours,
Handlington
Harold L. Ickes.
Mr. Daniel Francis Clancy,
Director,
National Committee Against
Limiting the Presidency,
