CONNELLY Subject : Statement of the Brooklyn Division of the American Jewish Congress and Petition signed by approximately 140,000 Americans in Brooklyn On March 1, 1948 Mr. Nathan Dinkes, President of the Brooklyn Division of the American Jewish Congress, called on me for the purpose of presenting a statement with regard to Palestine and for the purpose of presenting a petition signed by approximately 140,000 Americans in Brooklyn. In accordance with Mr. Dinkes' request there is enclosed a copy of his statement, together with one of the pages of the signed petition. Mr. Dinkes was informed, on behalf of his dele- gation, that careful study would be given by the Department of State to his statement and to the petition in question. Mr. Dinkes was also informed that the Security Council of the United Nations was x 85-p in the course of discussing the Palestine question and that such further views as it might be necessary for the United States Government to present, in the light of such consideration, would be advanced at the United Nations.
