HAGG UNIT NO. 90
ALGONA, IOWA
December 15, 1949
RESOLUTION
TRUMANT
WHEREAS, The American veteran in two World Wars has defended the
F
American free enterprise system, which has made possible the
COVERNMENT
development in this cou try of the highest standards of medical care
and the finest medical institutions attained by any major country in
the world; and,
WHEREAS, having experienced the shortcomings of impersonal, assembly-
line medical care inherent in the form of government-controlled
medicine necessary in time of war, the veteran understands the dangers
of imposing such a system permanently on the entire population; and,
WHEREAS, compulsory health insurance would impose an unjust tax on the
veteran's paycheck for medical care to which he is now entitled free
of charge as a reward for his service to his country; and,
WHEREAS, compulsory health insurance would force a tax of 3% on the
income of the employed veteran, rising to a. tax of at least 6% within
a few years, creating new financial burdens which would increase the costs
of necessities of life and lower the standard of living for veterans
and other citizens, NOW THEREFORE,
x64-A
