Dear Mr. Dawson:
I have received from the Director of

the FBI, copy of a letter addressed to you by
Mr. W. J. McNeil, Special Assistant to the Secre-
tary of Defense, dated July 8th, concerning the
investigation of Civilian employees of the Army,
Navy, and Air Force Departments, under provisions
of Executive Order 9835.
We feel strongly here against any change
in the present method of handling these investigations.
If any procedural changes are contemplated in the
administration of this program, I should appreciate
the opportunity to present our views, as we are
prepared to support our position.
