1236 No. Flores Hollywood, Calif., 7 Hon. Harry Truman, 320-B Nov.1, 1947. golder Pres.of the U.S., Washington,D.C. Dear sir: "In the course of human event it becomes necessary" for the peace loving people of the U.S. to construe some form of law in order that an idividual or group does not abuse or misinterpret the good intentions of the United State Constitution. The "Framers" of the constitution were all God loving men. They highly respect the opinions of others, but they also expect that these opinions to be decent. They never dream that such forces as Facist and Nazi tried to destroy these principles which they dearly gave to the nation. They never dream of Communist--this modern adver- sary--who presumably is trying to wreck our form of government. They never dream that other individuals would use it to protect their purposes for their selfish ends. If they only knew the future, I am sure that they would have inserted these words, that the rights and privileges should only be use for good. The worst thing of today are the "demagogs" and they call themselves American citizen too. We should ask ourseleves if we are enjoying this freedom of speech and of the press by using it alone for good. We must safeguard the good intentions which the framers of the constitution have but in mind. So, in my opinion and belief that this phrase, "the rights and pri- vileges of an individual must ben MSE only for good and not for evil"should be inserted somewhere in the amendments to the Constitution. No person in his right mind would contradict or oppose the insertion. As in the recent inves- tigation of persons suspected of being Communist, this "phrase "would give the committee the right to question the loyalty of anyone because, even if the person has the constitutional right, he might be using it not for good but for evil.
