Dear Dr. Pepper:
Please accept the President's thanks
for your letter of May fourth, with which you
forwarded resolution of the General Convention
which was reaffirmed on April twenty-seventh
by the Department of Christian Social Relations
of the National Council Protestant Episcopal
Church. I am glad to assure you that this
expression of conviction concerning general
amnesty for conscientious objectors to war
will receive very careful consideration by
the President.
Very sincerely yours,
WILLIAM D. HASSETT
Secretary to the President
Reverend Almon R. Pepper, D.D.,
Director
Department of Christian Social Relations,
National Council Protestant Episcopal Church,
281 Fourth Avenue,
New York 10, N. Y.
