400 Hawaii January 25, 1951. statehood miss Dear Mr. Nielsen: The President has asked me to thank you and Mr. Bens for your letter of January ninth concerning statehood for Hawaii. The President continues to be strongly in favor of statehood for Hawaii and, for his part, I am sure that he has no intention of agreeing to a compromise that would not provide statehood. With best regards, Sincerely yours, MATTHEW J. CONNELLY Secretary to the President Mr. Earl A. Nielsen, + Democratic Party of Hawaii, X 300 Hawaii, N Room 318, 49 S. Hotel Street, Honolulu, Hawaii. V
