None of these are known for anti-fascism, but many are known fascists.
Such anti-fascists as Max Ascoli and Lúigi Antonini refused to join the
Committee, despite pressure put upon them by Treasury officials; they
said they would only join if the fascists were removed.
Following are comments on a number of the members:
Paolino Gerli, President: An industrialist whose name has ap-
peared in the past in many "welfare"
enterprises sponsored by Italian fascists
in America. He landed Generoso Pope
100,000 lire for Italian War Relief in
1935 during the Ethiopian War.
