Dear A1:
Your letter of the twentieth was most highly
appreciated by both Mrs. Truman and myself.
Margaret sang here in Washington and seems
xPP73
to have had the same sort of reception that she
received in Kansas City and the other places
where she has been. Of course, I am rather
prejudiced in her favor and it makes me very
happy when somebody writes and tells me she
is all right, although her mother and I have
tried very hard to keep The White House promo-
tion angle from getting into her career. In spite
of what the critics say I think she pleases the
paying customers and that is the main thing.
We are not going to relax the anti-trust laws as
277
long as I am President and I made that statement
36
at a recent press conference.
I hope you and Peg received everything you wanted
for Christmas and that you have a Very Happy 1948.
Sincerely yours,
HARRY S. TRUMAN
