FOREST A 1834 WAKE FOREST COLLEGE WAKE FOREST, NORTH CAROLINA OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT September 22, 1951 time Mr. Matthew J. Connelly The White House Washington, D. C. Dear Mr. Connelly: Interest in our plans for October 15 is constantly rising over the state. We are ready now to use our contacts with radio stations and with the newspapers to release final announcements. We are preparing another letter to go out to the 11,000 alumni, to the 3,000 pastors, and through them to the 700,000 Baptist church members in our state. All of this will be done as soon as we have your permission. In the meantime our committees in Winston-Salem and here at Wake Forest are making thorough preparation. The ground has been prepared and the speaker's stand is being constructed, all of which provides a most impressive setting for a great occasion and significant deliverance from our President on Christian Education in the struggle for a free world. Again I want to thank you for the encouragement that we have received concerning President Truman's desire to attend. I shall call you again early next week so that we may make the best use of the short time that re- mains between now and October 15. // Very cordially yours, Harold W. Tribble President HWT:esd
