Writes the President that the enclosed letters end map have been reprinted from the Gage
collection now treasured in the William L. Clements Id brary, University of Michigan. Com-
ments on the first notions of democracy and the drive to self-goverment exercised by our
ancestors in 1776.-Mr. Hassett, Feb. 7th, wrote Mr. Schwartsmann expressing the Presi-
dent's thanks for the Lithoprinted facsimiles of original documents pertaining to the
American Revolution, reprinted from the Gage collection in the William L. Clements Library.
Mr. Hassett said the President was pleased to have these interesting papers.
