Hall Hallmark Cards 25th and McGee Kansas City, Mo. Re: Inferior sound system for superior event Dear Mr. Hall: Several weeks ago we sent a letter to Mr. Nutter offering to supply a good high quality sound system that would give perfect coverage for a crowd of over 100,000 people for the re-dedication of the Liberty Memorial. I felt since your name was connected with this re-dedication that the entire operation would want to be on a par with the idea of Hallmark Cards - "The Very Best". I realize you could make your cards cheaper by using newsprint, just like this re-dedication was made cheaper by using whatever sound system this is, but I didn't think you were interested just in price, but that's the only thing I was asked about. President Eisenhower has never spoken over a system equal to what we were going to put in, I am sure of that. I don't mean to throw cold water on the whole operation, as outside of the sound system it looked like quite a fine piece of work. If you paid over $50.00 for this sound system you did not get the value per dollar that you would have gotten from ours at $1200. This is what I wanted to convey to you. Although we were going to charge a reasonable amount for what we had to offer, we weren' doing it for the money, we were doing it for the good of the over-all operation and the city and it would have made a much better presentation to the people who took the time out to come. They would all have been able to hear clearly and understand every word whether they were sitting on the hospital lawn or whether they were on the front row. Even if they didn't pay anything, these 100,000 or so people who come to witness this event have a right to hear what is going on, and if these dignitaries are as important as they appear, they have a right to be heard. Probably half the people wouldn't use the time going down if they knew they weren't going to be able to hear. consoles . components cabinets kits dictating machines home music systems recorded tapes Ampex .
