My dear Bill:
I appreciated very much your note of July
thirty-first and I was very sorry that you
couldn't go along on the Vice - Presidency,
Senator Barkley, however, will make a good
campaign, I am sure,
The Congress has certainly left a miserable
record here and I don't believe they will be
able to explain it properly to the people.
I will be glad to see you when you return to
Washington.
