ARCHIVES RECORDS AND
MEMORANDUM FOR MR. CONNELEY:
The attached correspondence with
reference to changes in the shipbuilding
program of the U.S. Maritime Commission
was returned to this office this morning
by the Director of the Budget. The records
of this office do not show whether or not
the President has ever seen it; nor do our
records indicate whether or not Mr. Justice
Byrnes either saw the recommendation or
made comment on it as requested by Admiral
Brown.
Will you please check on this matter
and, if the President has not been advised
of it, do so; please also advise this office
whether or not you wish us to take any further
action in the premises.
