This morning Spaak asked that I call to discuss with
him an article appearing in the LIBRE BEIGIQUE charging the
the King was refused access to documents prepered bj his
household and refused USE of the radio by the Allied Mili-
tary authorities. The article was in good temper so far
as the Allies were concerned but the statements of facts
are completely false. This Spaak wished to say immediately
but wanted to be sure his CEnial met with the approval
of the American and British Ambassadorse The British
Ambassador GEnEral Erskine and I fElt that it was quite
proper for Spaak to issue c.n. immediate denial.
Van Acker will return this afternoon from his visit
with the King. Spaak thinks the King is planning to return
and is greatly disturbed. The British Ambassador te 11s me
that his Govt is considering a demand on the King that he
take himse 1f out of the territory controlled by the Allied
Armies. This is a reversal of the position communicated
