Following report just received from Dr. Johnson in
Salzburg regarding subject of DEpt's 3, May 29, 8 p.m.
BEGIN PARAPHRASE.
Hildman was a member of municipal administration of
Salzburg unitl the time the City Council, during Schuschnigg's
regime, made him Mayor. Only Christian Socials, pan-Germans
and the he imwehr WETE on the Council (The Social Democrats
and Communists having been excluded) when he was appointed
to that office. When the Nazis annexed Austria in 1938
he was suspended as Mayor but was later used by the Wehrmacht
