DEPARTMENT INCOMING DIVISION OF OF CENTRAL SERVICES STATE TELEGRAM TELEGRAPH SECTION MB-571 Stockholm This telegram must be closely paraphrased be- Dated May 5, 1945 fore being communicated to anyone. (SECRET) Rec'd 11:29 a.m. DECLASSIFIED Secretary of State, E.O. 11652, Sec. 3(E) and 5(D) or (E) Dept. of State letter, Aug. 10, 1972 Washington. BYNLTTHE NARS Date 7.25.75 US URGENT NIACT 1700, May 5, 2 p.m. Boheman informed Malvet and me that Schellenberg expressed belief Doenitz and Himmler and so-called German Government intended yesterday to go Bohemia. Schellenberg has further expressed wish to get in touch with SHAEF in order to take up question of total capitulation on all fronts and to explain why such capitulation has hitherto not been ordered (my 1699, May 5, 2 p.m.) He advanced as a reason the presence of 6 to 8 million German civilions in the protectorate of Bohemia which Doenitz somehow would like to save. According to this account Doenitz evidently hopes these people will be permitted to filter westward through the Allied lines. JOHNSON "NATIONAL ARCHIVES AND WFS RECORDS : SERVICET
