Dear Senator:
I appreciated very auch your note of
February fifth in regard to the addi-
tional office space for The White House.
Apparently the Committee doesn't believe
the President ought to have sufficient
working space. Under the circuastances
I shall just have to nove the elerks into
The White House, as happened in the days
of MeKinley and the Presidents previous
to that time.
I had hoped to have The White House for a
residence, which I think it was intended
in the first place, but if I have to make
en office building out of the first floor,
I'll proceed to do it.
