WASHINGTON
10 September, 1951.
Memorandum For The President:-
On 6 September, 1951 I attended a meeting
of The Commission on Renovation and Reconstruction of
The Executive Mansion.
To my dismay I le arned that in the event
the additional funds in the amount of $321,000 requested
from The Congress were not forthcoming by 1 October,
1951 there existed a probability that work on the
reconstruction would practically cease pending the
appropriation of these funds by the Congress.
I am apprehensive of this situation and feel
The President should be apprised of this possible state
of affairs.
