I7TH & SPRING GARDEN STREETS
PHILADELPHIA
March 6, 1952 THE WHITE HOUSE

RECEIVED
My dear Mr. President:
In accordance with my previous correspondence, I am
writing to tell you that I have every reason to believe that
the reconstruction of the White House will be finished in its
entirety, and ready for your return, after your visit to the
South. By the end of this week, with the exception of some
miscellaneous glass in the bathrooms, all our own work should
be completed.
I have talked with the interior decorator, and he in-
forms me that he is confident that he can complete the instal-
lation of all the draperies, carpet and furniture in time for
Mrs. Truman and you to occupy the building when you return.
No doubt the Commission will, in a formal way, advise
you of the plans on which we agreed at our last meeting.
Trusting that you have a delightful vacation and as-
suring you that we will do everything humanly possible to have
your home ready to receive you upon your return,
Sincerely
yours, (am
