MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDENT
The enclosed reports on "The Position of the
United States with Respect to Italy" (NSC 1/2) and "The
Position of the United States with Respect to Italy in the
light of the Possibility of Communist Participation in the
Government by Legal Means" (NSC 1/3) have been adopted by
the National Security Council at its 7th meeting.
The National Security Council recommends that you
approve the conclusions contained therein, and direct that
they be implemented by all appropriate Executive Departments
and Agencies of the U.S. Government under the coordination
of the Secretary of State.
