DECLASSIFIED E. O. 11652, Sec. 3(E) and S(D) or (E) Dept. of State letter, Aug. 9, 1973. SECURITY By NLT-/CC ; NARS Date 4-16-75 The President may wish to make the following points absolutely clear to Ambassador Ivanissevich, emphasizing that the following is the firm bipartisan policy of the United States Government (Senators Vanden- berg and Connally and the Acting Secretary of State being present): 1. The United States desires friendly relations with Argentina and has noted with satisfaction President Perón's disavowal of any intention to form a bloc. 2. The United States continues to attach greatest importance to the principle of compliance with inter- American agreements; it believes that the observance of this principle is essential to the development of a strong inter-American system. 3. In this connection the United States Government is pleased to note that there is no longer any problem in regard to enemy schools and institutions in Argentina. 4. This Government is also happy to see that impor- tant progress has been made in placing absolutely and unconditionally in the Argentine Government or in bona fide Argentine owners the titles of enemy owners in Axi S spear- head firms. Therefore this Government raises no further question in regard to this matter. s SERVICE" AND
