My dear Mr. Prime Minister;
I appreciated most highly your good letter of February
seventeenth. By coincidence that date happened to be
my daughter's twenty-fifth birthday.
I was very much pleased with your visit - not only was it
a personal enjoyment to me but our conversation, I think,
will be very helpful to the United States and, I hope, also
to Canada.
I also appreciate most highly your invitation to me for
another visit to your great country. I don't know what
my situation will be, due to the fact that 1 have a new
Congress in session, I must stay rather close to it
except for a few days now and then for sleep and rest.
I sincerely hope, however, that you will pay us another
visit whenever you feel inclined, and I shall always have
under consideration a trip to Canada, hoping that at some-
time I can make it.
Mrs. Truman was most happy to see you the day you were
here and when I showed her your letter she asked to be
remembered to you and I am sure my daughter would send
you the same message were she at home.
Sincerely yours,
