MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDENT
Subject: Message to President Chiang Kai-shek
There is attached the Chinese Ambassador's
acknowledgment of your letter of August 10
addressed to him, in which you requested that
he transmit a message from you to President Chiang
Kai-shek in regard to the si tuation in China.
General Marshall has been informed of the action
taken. Your message to President Chiang has been
repeated to Secretary Byrnes.
For your information there is attached a
copy of a memorandum of conversation between
the Chinese Ambassador and Mr. Vincent in regard
to your letter to President Chiang.
