Subject: Latest Opinion Trends in the U.S.A.
Special Report: The Doughton Bill
The following is a summary of the current position
as indicated by opinion polls, press and radio comment
and statements by leaders and national organizations.
A. Polls
1. The Public at Large
Three out of four think *U.S. should reduce
its tariffs on the goods other countries
vant to sell here provided they reduce their
tariffs and other restrictions on our goode'.

Trade Agreements and Has Opinions
Nine out of ten think the trade agreements pro-
gram should be continued. (Preliminary figures

Six out of ten favor further reduction of tariffs
