Note: These figures represent cumulative casualties for which notification to
next of kin was effected through midnight Friday, 25 August 1950. They do not
reflect all casualties which have occurred up to that time, because of the time
lapse required to receive notifications of individual casualties from the Far
East and to verify and process these notifications in the headquarters of each
service. The data indicate the cumulative number of permanent and temporary
losses from effective military strength as the result of enemy action, not ne-
cessarily the number of individuals affected.
