Justice Jackson reports that the War Crimes Agreement will be signed August 8. General Elections to be Held in British India. According to a reliable report from India the recent governor's conference in New Delhi determined that general elections shall be held in the British Indian provinces late this year and that on August 17 the ban!! on Congress organizations will be lifted and most political prisoners released. British Financial Agreements. From several sources our Legation in Bern has been informed that the British have made or are in the process of negotiating with eight or nine countries modifications to existing currency and financial agreements. It is understood that in several cases these agreements contain secret clauses which are contrary to the Bretton Woods resolutions and intended to bring the countries concerned within the sterling orbit. Developments in Bulgaria. Following the publi- cation of the Potsdam communique a Sofia newspaper published an article stating that the Allied Control Commission for Bulgaria was about to become truly tripartite.
